The Downtown Park is coming "full circle"!
Ohno Construction began construction on both the Complete the Circle and Inspiration Playground projects on July 11. Construction is anticipated to be complete in June 2017. During the construction period, the southern half of the Downtown Park will be closed to public access. However, the existing southeast parking lot will be accessible for use (at a decreased capacity) until the new 100th Avenue NE lot is finished. The parking lot along 100th Avenue NE will only be temporarily closed to public access. There will also be intermittent closures of the northern half of the Downtown Park as improvements to the lighting and promenade are performed. The City has combined the Complete the Circle and Inspiration Playground projects into a single construction project. For construction status, please see the Complete the Circle web page.
The city is working with the Bellevue Rotary Club to expand the playground in Bellevue Downtown Park to include an innovative play space where kids of all ages and abilities can play and explore at their own pace. Dedicated to fun, imagination and learning, it will be a universally-accessible play experience - a truly Inspiration(al) Playground.
The Bellevue Rotary Club approached the city, seeking a project to benefit the community and to celebrate the club's 50th anniversary. Inspiration Playground at Bellevue Downtown Park is that project. The Rotary Club of Bellevue is leading a community-wide fundraising campaign to secure the funding needed to build Inspiration Playground. Rotary has already raised $3.8 million of the $5.5 million goal to complete the project. Interested in helping? Visit the online donation page.

The existing playground, located in the southwest corner of the 22-acre park, is approximately 8,500 square feet (0.2 acre) in size, and includes an adjacent parking lot and restroom. Inspiration Playground will expand the existing play area to approximately 1.5 acres.
The expanded playground will include new interactive features that engage the senses, create inclusiveness and accommodate children of all abilities and their caregivers. The new playground's design will work to:

Community Feedback and Events:
The Inspiration Playground construction timeline depends largely on the success of the fundraising campaign, which may take up to three years. The playground expansion design is underway. Potential phasing opportunities are being identified so that design, permitting and construction can remain commensurate with fundraising as milestones are achieved. The Bellevue Rotary Club is working to raise funds for this exciting playground expansion.
