123rd Ave SE
This project will involve city staff working with a group of resident volunteers—in the form of a traffic committee—to develop a traffic improvement plan to reduce vehicle speeds along 123rd Avenue Southeast, from Southeast 20th Place to Southeast 26th Street.
The project includes elements that will visually narrow the roadway (a traffic circle, medians, and curb extensions) opposed to vertical measures such as speed humps.
The traffic improvement was constructed in coordination with the neighborhood sidewalk project that includes a five foot sidewalk on the east side of 123rd Avenue Southeast from Southeast 26th Street to Southeast 20th Street. Construction began January 2016 and wrapped in August 2016. The traffic calming elements will be landscaped in fall 2016 when weather is appropriate.
